Sophisticated Cricut cartridge - Fluer De Lis project

I have had this frame for quite some time, just waiting for the right project to come along. I Love how it has a beautiful space in the middle that allows for dimensional items. 

To create this project I cut the Tan Damask paper (side B) from Fabrications to fit my opening then added the silver photo corners also from Fabrications to each corner.

I cut the Fluer De Lis using the "Sophisticated" cartridge in Cricut Craft Room & cut size: 4.5 x 8.1 from Sweet Afternoon "In The Attic" paper.

After I made my cut I used a ruller and drew very thin black lines creating shading on the fluer de lis. Once all of my lines were drawn I then went over the shading and around the edges using distress ink. I adhered it using Foam squares.

This is such a nice addition to my home office! I absolutely love the look and it was so easy to create!

Old fashioned clip board using Teresa Collins Sweet Afternoon

My ever growing collection of clipboards inspire me so much. When I saw this on Pinterest {HERE} I was so inspired to create something like it using one of my clipboards. 

The dates are Danny's birthday, my birthday, our anniversary and E's birthday. We have a long time family joke that I will always be "29" *Wink!! So, while it hangs in our family room we shall see if anyone notices! HA!!

To create this project I used the Cricut Craft room - SOPHISTICATED cartridge and the Cricut MINI. Let me tell you my two favorite reasons for LOVING the Cricut craft room, and I mean that! #1 - I am very visual, so for me, I will use this, the ease of use to pull it up on my laptop and create something and know EXACTLY how it will cut makes me super happy!! #2 - See picture two on the right? Because of reason #1 I can cut multiple papers for my project ALL AT ONCE because I know where and how to measure the paper, to put on my mat! SWEETNESS!! Papers I used - For the numbers: Flying Kites. For Family and the scroll:In The Attic (back). For the Key hole: 6x6 Pad blue sheet

 

Oh but the project gets better! I wanted the key hole to sparkle, but oh my gosh, that little frame around it had to be glued and sparkled too!! No EASIER way to do this than to run in thru the new TC X sticker maker by Xyron! See the steps below to see how I created the piece.

 I was able to use the sticker maker on the ENTIRE project!! What a dream, saved me so much time!!

I took all of the metal off of the clipboard and covered it using the paper: In The Garden (back)

For my base page I used 2 strips cut 2.5 by 8.5 from By The Pond paper. Then I cut 9.5 by 8.5 from With a Book (back).

***TIP*** Then I layered my "cut paper template" (the piece that the numbers came out of) that I peeled off of my mat and set it on my base paper so I knew EXACTLY how to space all of my numbers because I had already spaced everything when I was creating the project in the Cricut craft room! So I placed all my numbers back into that piece that I had pulled them from then carefully pulled it back up after all the numbers were in place (kind of like a puzzle) and it worked perfectly!!

I used two boarders from the Die Cut Sheet #2 and placed them where the base papers abutted each other. I added the "A wonderful day" adding glitter around the edges and then adhered it using pop dots.  I punched my holes for the top and added some blue paper reinforcers. I pleated some crepe paper and added it on the back side of the bottom strip.

Teresa Collins Stampmaker - FAMILY Canvas project

This was my fist time playing with canvas, other than a couple of classes I had taken from Quick Quotes a few years ago where we made scrapbook wall art. It was completely outside of my normal comfort zone but once I started I was having so much fun I couldn't decide when to STOP adding more layers of stamps!!

Here are some the stamps that I used:

 

 

 

To start I painted the canvas in layers of the pink and white. Then added some ink to give some depth. After I created the stamps I started layering them using the different colors of red and pinks. I added some gems in the centers of some of the stamped images. I created a ruffled flower and added a jewel button in the center. Then inked a few select stamps in black for the high contrast. I loved creating this, it was so fun!!

Inspired by this today...

I had one of those great days today. So TOTALLY INSPIRED.

I had a different project all laid out and ready in my mind this morning then bam! My mind went some where else.

I. can. not. tell. you. how. beyond. excited. I. am. to. share. with. you.   It won't be revealed on my blog, hint hint wink wink.

I will show you this, this has me so excited, I am so giddy inside.

This is an old fashioned clip board. Yes, I have a thing for clip boards, my first post - a clipboard, my hall way art - all hung by clipboards.

The top mechanism is made of CAST IRON, and what I mean by cast iron is that my right arm is literally now longer than my left from holding my project up periodically to eye it.

The bottom piece is some sort of metal, it was heavy when I took it all apart - not like the top though. It's a hole punch, Yep, a hole punch.

I have no idea how old this is, I could not find a date on it anywhere when I had it all taken apart.

I'm just bouncing off the walls with glee, it's going to be sooooo amazing. I have just the spot I want to hang it when it's all complete. In fact I already have Danny looking for the stud finder because it will need to be hung securely.

In case you missed it *TC - Celebrate* Happy Birthday Banner

The Happy Birthday Banner was on Teresa's blog Wednesday and in case you missed it, here it is again.  If you have not seen the Celebrate line just you wait, it's a m a z i n g!!! Just at a glance I was smitten with the blues, reds and oranges. 

I was straightening up my paper mess and as I was organizing I discovered, this line has a few different looks to it, like I said the fun blues, reds and oranges. Then I noticed the creams and whites... My mind was flying, what could I do to show you JUST HOW VERSATILE this line is. Ahhhh, the excitement. I stared and stared and the next morning woke up with this great idea and I was in my scrap room before the coffee was done! (That says A LOT!)

Here's what I came up with:

Once I figured out the shape I wanted it to be I cut all my pieces, distressed all the edges and started layering:
My first layer was the back of the Blue Birthday Party paper

Then I layered it with the Happy Birthday Transparency

I then cut a circle and a strip from the back of the pendants paper. I used a scallop punch for the bottom strip and adhered it to the lined paper (the first layer).

I cut strips out of the Definitions paper, I did do this creatively to make sure I had the words I wanted at the the top of the strips. Then I pleated the paper to make a "Lolly" gluing them to a piece of chipboard so they wouldn't pop up.





















Then added the individual Banner letters to each piece.





















I then put doilies on the tops and bottoms to give it the lacy look and connected them with large brads.

And there you have it. I love it! I hope it inspires you to see things for more that what they seam to be at first glance too. Have a great weekend! ~C

Teresa Collins Free Style Layout and something to do with your scraps

Have I told you how much I love the Free Style Line??? 

I used the back of the words paper as my base layer and inked it different areas with orange. Then I added the pink zebra transparency, laid down some misc. ribbon, punched out some flower petals inking the edges in pink and giving a few of the dots some glitter. Layered the flower with words cut out and inked edges, the clock with the word You. I matted the frame with the crown paper and of course used some stickles for the crown jewels. And lastly framed it in the matching zebra in the orange.

I Finally hung my pictures in the hall way leading to my scrapbook room. It looks so great to have something to greet me on my way to my happy place. I got the frames from the dollar store. I consolidated all of my smaller scraps to punch the butterflies. 






















I couldn't figure out for the longest time how I wanted to hang all 12 of the frames. So, in the end with some help from Elisha we decided they would hang up in groups of fours with an inch of space between each frame. Since neither of us are really great with our math skills and they ended up with no space between them! I think that it looks great and I'm even more happy to not pass by them with them sitting on the floor any longer waiting to be hung up.

Our Hallway Art - 12 Months of back yard photo's

I always thought it was so neat to open a scrapbook magazine to see someone who had done a layout of the four seasons of their yard or a special tree, to have that kind of dedication always "wowed" me in some way.

When we moved into our new home a few years back I took that idea just a little further. You see, we live on a creek so it is ever changing. The first week of every month that first year I stood in the same spot and took a photo of our back yard. When the year was over I created a page for each photo and hung the pages in the hall for our guests, family and friends to enjoy. The months are rub ons that are on extra large paint sticks that our neighbor cut to size for me.

I know...WHAT are the chances that it snowed when I needed it to???

Coming home every day to this, is amazing. Our home is our sanctuary, where we come after a long day at work to have peace, quiet and relax. We don't take many vacations because well...living here is a little like a vacation every day. Have a great weekend and thanks for viewing our little "peace" on earth! ~Cheri
