blog hop - summer fun with Craftwell and Xyron

Hey everyone, In honor of my birthday being last weekend on FLAG DAY I was feeling inspired to create a little something patriotic for our home. I wanted to make something that would sit on our mantel and this turned out to be a great addition, do you like it?

These are the supplies I started with - my ebosser which I also used to cut all of my little white stars and the WOOD GRAIN Folder and (Star folder - I did not end up using the star folder as I had planned), adhesive from Xyron, a craft star shaped box, a wood candle holder that I painted with red glitter paint and finally some red, white and blue paper.

First I embossed my red, white and blue papers using the Wood Grain Folders - I wanted my flag to look like it had movement and this was just PERFECT for this effect. I cut my red and white strips 1/2". My home is very "rustica" so I ended up inking the edges so it would fit in with my decor. Now you can see in this photo I adhered my stripes from the center, using the Xyron Glue stick - truly when adhering to chipboard, you can't go wrong with a good glue stick. I just kept alternating my stripes then trimmed them off when I was done. Then I added the blue on the opposite side.

I loved being able to cut all my stars but to adhere them is easiest when you have a sticker maker, it makes it super quick!!

Here is my finished project, I tied it with a little burlap bow to finish it off.

I hope you enjoyed todays project! ~Cheri

Blog hop Summer Fun with Xyron and Craftwell!

Hey everyone! If you follow me you know I do a tumbler of the month project with my Starbucks tumblers. I thought this blog hop was perfect to go with my new star flag themed tumbler this month.

To start my project I embossed one sheet of red, white and blue card stock using the WOOD GRAIN embossing folders. Then I used some white scrap paper and cut mini stars (photo of mini stars below) Once I embossed my blue paper, I cut the bases of my stars using three different dies - all at the same time! This is one of the perks of having a larger machine, you can cut many things all at the same time!!

Here you can see some of the supplies I used. I trimmed all of my red and white stripes 1/4" then adhered them to my star using my Xryon 1/4" tape runner. Then I adhered all of my mini white stars using my Teresa Collins sticker maker. It's so great for those little pieces!!

I embossed a piece of dark metal gray paper using the startburst folder, traced my template onto the paper and trimmed it up, then adhered all of my finished stars on to my starburst paper.

I love how the wood grain embossed paper looks like it is moving, it's just perfect!!

April Starbucks tumbler of the month using the Teresa Collins Ebosser

Oh my gosh, I had so much fun today making this one!! I am seriously addicted to embossing on the mirrored papers! For this months project I used the new folder "Beautiful Words".

To recreate this project, emboss your mirrored paper. Trim it to 4" wide. Adhere onto side B of Butterflies paper from the Teresa Collins Daily Stories collection. Trace your template onto your paper and cut out.

I then cut a few scallops from the Ombre Circles paper and adhered them to the left side of my embossed sheet.

Then I sewed a row of the white sequins on to my scallop strip. **Tip - add a small strip of adhesive first to keep your sequins in place while you sew them on. Then I adhered small grey sequins over the top of the white ones.

Add a strip of washi tape to the right of the embossed sheet.

Stamp the small flower over the grey and white stripes and color in the centers using blue and pink pens.

Add "everyday life" circle from the ephemera package overlapping top right of embossed sheet and washi tape.

Insert your completed sheet into your tumbler and your all set!! I love how this turned out, huge wow factor with the embossed mirrored paper!

I hope you are inspired to create one of your own!! This is the Starbucks tumbler I used this month.

March Tumbler of the month using the TC Ebosser

I've had some questions about the tumblers I have used over time. I DO have several of the different Starbucks Tumblers.

This is the COLLAGE IT tumbler, the website says it is currently not available but I have seen it at most Starbucks stores.

Here's the question I get with this one, how do I decorate it?  This particular tumbler I think is for simplicity. Not the tumbler I typically use when adding embellishments. But if you do have it, then how would you create with it? Because you can't add a lot of "layers" it's a great way to showcase your favorite photos, a drawing your child has created for you, a favorite piece of paper. Something along those lines.

So today I am sharing one of the fun ways I have decorated mine using the TC Ebosser!

To start, slip your template out of the tumbler and trace your template onto your sheet of paper. I have a place I keep all of my different templates so I know where to find them all each time I redecorate or change out my designs. Once you have it traced, cut it out.

I enjoy this embossing folder with all of the cabbage roses on it. So I thought it would be fun to play around with it this month. So run it through your TC Ebosser.

Once I had it embossed I very lightly added some pink ink to the page. I used the Tim Holtz distress Spun Sugar ink over the raised images. This paper is from the Teresa Collins Save the Date collection and it has an amazing texture to it!!

Once I finished inking it I used the pearl powder in Blush over the top by using the medium pen then sprinkling the powder over the top then dusting it off. Once done, go ahead and slip it into your tumbler.

I want to mention, I truly enjoy making these and switching them up every month, I am not paid by Starbucks, it's just something I LOVE playing with!

I hope this inspires you and helps those of you that have asked me to share something with this tumbler.

If you are looking for the stainless steel one that you can create with more layers and shown in many of my other posts here is the link: http://www.starbucksstore.com/stainless-steel-create-your-own-tumbler-16-fl-oz/011025477,default,pd.html?navid=PDP
