Happy Thanksgiving!!

Well so far today my family is thankful that we still have power!! Danny has made sure the generator is ready to go!! Yesterday my morning did not start out as planned and my whole day went a bit sideways and I felt a bit frantic trying to keep everything together. Elisha helped me so much when I got home to help prepare for today's meal, I LOVE that girl so much!! Today is going to be even more special because of all of her efforts. I truly GIVE THANKS to my girl, I am so blessed by her!!

I can't wait for Danny's family to arrive, it smells so good in our home!! On the menu - Turkey, oh my Turkey - tried a new brine from the Pioneer Woman praying I did not mess it up and that it turns out. Ham, Sausage stuffing, soul sweet taters (E is beside her self for these!), broccoli salad, cheesy cauliflower, all the typical sides, oh yes and creamy mashed potatoes...I'm so hungry can you tell??

I made the above "GIVE THANKS" using this months free negative download for the Teresa Collins Stampmaker, I love these monthly downloads!!

From our family to yours Have a very Happy Thanksgiving!! ~C

Mini Album - Giving Thanks and Maya Road Canvas book

Altered Maya Road canvas mini book using the Giving Thanks and Blingage lines. Of course a little distress ink and some misting spray.

Instead of using the album traditionally I turned it on it's side for a flip album so I could use these specific photo's in it. These are my girlfriends oh so photographic children, I love it when she has photo's for me to use for projects, Thank you so much April!!

I sprayed mist on the canvas then inked the edges. While it was drying I painted one of Zach's Book Plates from the Blingage line in ivory then inked it until I got my desired look, I put the transparency word "Children" under it and attached it to the canvas book end (which would be the top of this album, either way it works.) I Then created my rosette and started layering my accents, tied the ribbon on using a Crown and the bottom half of Seth's fleur de Lis, also from the Blingage line.

For my pages I layered all of the chipboard book pages with the Giving Thanks papers, inked and sanded the edges just a bit for a little softer look.

Then I measured my transparency pages and inserted them in the album. Then I added my photo's, placing the tabs under them as I went added additional tags & embellishments from the Giving Thanks line and as much BLINGAGE as possible!

Used the Teresa Collins - Giving Thanks Stamps!

I just loved playing around with these stamps from the Teresa Collins Giving Thanks Line

I love how this Thank You card is both feminine and masculine, these stamps are just so much FUN to stamp and create with.

The Thank You card is a real quick easy card. I first inked the right side of the front of the card then trimmed up a piece of the Thank You paper and punched four circles out of the right side. Placed it on the card then stamped the circular "thank you" stamp inside the circles onto the base of the card. Then I stamped and layered the "thank you" and popped it up on the card. I finished it off with one of Jamie's gem's.

The Remember Gratitude card was also a fun one, I just stamped the boarder all around then stamped the circle "gratitude" stamp repeatedly. I did "mask" the boarder for it as I was stamping the top and bottom circles. Then I stamped the remember tag and popped it off the page as well. I finished it with one of Taylor's clips and little ribbon from the Giving Thanks line.

I thought the Thankful tent card would be cute on the table at Thanksgiving, same idea as perhaps a place card. I love how the border is so elegant, just perfect with the framed word - Thankful. I finished it off with one of Jamie's gem's.

Have a great day! Cheri

Gratitude Journal

For this album I used the Teresa Collins Giving Thanks paper line. Then I altered the heck out of it using several Tim Holtz distress inks! Such a pretty little journal album.

This is a "flap" clover album. I used Tim Holtz grungeboard hinges - which are painted then embossed. I love the transparency background simply layered over a white sheet of paper.
This is the inside front cover.

This is the first page in the album. I simply created a pocket on the back to slip the journal into then sealed it all up so it is permanent. I used the ruler ribbon from the Chick Babe Boy line as many of the tabs indicating the month. I cut out the transparency words and just stapled them to the page.

Thanks for taking a look! Have a great day! ~Cheri

How to... Make a lolly or pinwheel

Pinwheels or Lollies -  This is how I made the one on the bottom of the calendar. Also shown earlier this month on Teresa's Blog.

Depending on what is going to be the center of your lolly is how wide you will cut your paper strip, your length should be 12 inches. For this lolly I cut my strip 1 and 3/4 wide, which will double in width once completed .

Then you will start making your folds. For anyone that enjoys taking their time or having precise even folds, you could score your folds as I do. For some people like my self, I get to the end of folding and it's not so straight, so scoring is what works for me and I just use my paper trimmer and score every 1/4 inch. Your result should look something like this.

You'll glue your ends together, mine do over lap one fold and that's ok.

Make a "Tee-Pee"
4_picnik

Gently push down, *Tip: this works best on a slicker surface, I've used my table top and since it's wood It catches on the grain and doesn't work as nicely.

I cut a round piece of chipboard to give it more stability and glue it on, you can also add one on the bottom so it's nice and flat when you add it to your project.  *Tip: Hot glue works better for this part, dries quicker and is thicker to catch those folds. This is also when I add any distress ink to the edges.

Add your center and your all done. *Tip: Really take a look at the paper you have, for the strip I used the back of the "Thank you paper" from the Giving thanks line, knowing that the center will cover most of the white and will leave me with the pretty decorative edge. My center which is from the tags page with the words, solid color and decorative center just worked out to be a great match.

One more...

I was having so much fun just playing around that I made one more AND I learned a little something, so you have a tip coming.

I made myself a little summertime key chain and I used the word CHERISH from the transparencies from the last post... I just simply cut the SH off the end to customize it "Cheri".

Super cute.
Here's my tip: put your adhesive BEHIND the printed side of the transparency otherwise your image could smear just a tad when you are smoothing out any bubbles. OOPS! Live and learn, I still think it's cute. ~Cheri

Playing around...

Catching up on my google reader this morning I saw some cute little charm necklaces and it got me to thinking about these old optical lenses I had picked up some time ago and wanted to make a little necklace or something with them.

I really did go upstairs with every intention of organizing some of my embellishments and got a little side tracked once I found where I had put those lenses. After playing around for a bit this is what I came up with:

It's double sided for what ever mood I'm in.

I simply cut circles out of the
Free Style Damask paper:

FR1604 Damask - A

And cut matching circles from the Giving Thanks Labels transparencies:

GT1712 Labels Transparecies

I LOVE these transparency words, I have even glittered them, "blinged" them, and colored them.

If you've ever been hesitant of using transparencies try starting out on a small scale like I did with my necklace. It really helps open the door for creating something unique and hopefully you'll find a new love for transparencies!  ~Cheri
